Hanan, by chance, escapes from poverty

The war does not carry with it the sounds of shells and bullets only, but also to disperse people and throw others on the sidewalks of the streets, who have no strength but resistance to continue.

Hanan Al-Makhlafi – 20 years old – married – lives in Bir Basha, east of Taiz, belongs to separate parents, each of them has his own marital life, and she lived her childhood with her aunts, and when she moved to Sana’a to live with her father and start her university studies, the war broke out and from here began a story of new suffering for Hanan with life.

Hanan says: “The war broke the joy of my life with my father, and things became worse, the owner of the house had kick us out from his house. He expelled us and I returned with my father to Taiz, and we sat with my grandmother, and our financial situation was very bad, so I began to learn sewing and work on it to support my father and escape the poverty that we live in, and then I got married.”

Corona is a profitable project

Al-Makhlafi continued to work in sewing even after her marriage, until the start of the Corona virus, and most of the work was stopped in Taiz, so her work and her husband’s work stopped, so she had no choice but to sew masks as you describe

And Al-Makhlafi adds:

“I contracted with a sewing factory who used to give me 250 riyals per muzzle.

I used to work today for 3500 riyals, and here I started thinking about doing the project in a miniature at my home and I started step by step, thank God, the project succeeded and was very profitable.”
