The International Day of Teachers comes, and the teachers in Yemen are subjected to many grave and continuous violations due to the war that has been going on in their country for five years
The International Teachers ’Day has been organized annually on October 5 since 1994, and it is worth noting that International Teachers’ Day has become an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and consider ways to meet the remaining challenges, in order to enhance the teaching profession.
In commemoration of the signing of the 1966 UNESCO and ILO Recommendation on the Status of Teachers, and in partnership between the United Nations Children’s Fund, the United Nations Development Program, the International Labor Organization and the International Federation of Teachers, the United Nations will celebrate teachers on their International Day – 2020 – with a ceremony entitled: “Teachers: Leadership In times of crisis and a new vision for the future. ”
In Yemen, and because of the ongoing conflict, teachers are subjected to various grave violations of kidnapping, killing and suspension of salaries, which are flagrant violations of human rights. Human rights reports speak of the killing and wounding of more than 1700 teachers since the outbreak of the war in Yemen.
On this day, we wish peace to Yemen and a near relief
