Ahlam .. from displacement to return to Corona
The war was not the only deterrent for Yemeni women to search for alternative job opportunities. To be the only breadwinner for her family, in light of deteriorating economic conditions, the Corona pandemic also contributed to the collapse of the economic situation and the low standard of living income for families; Due to the suspension of most work and the declaration of a state of ban, the Yemeni woman had no choice but to find a way to help her save her family’s day
Ahlam Muhammad al-Subaihi – 25 years old – married and worked with her mother in a sewing factory, and their condition was good and stable until the drums of war were beaten in Taiz, and the situation stopped for everyone. They were forced to flee to the city of Aden in southern Yemen, and she married there.
“We returned from displacement only with our clothes Our souls were lost in the ways to go and return.
constant suffering. Your feeling of instability, faces of new people, new places, a new land, even when you return, you return with only your clothes without the will and desire to continue. We could not return with our lives and work as it was before the war.
Resistance and support
Ahlam and her family were among the cases that were infected with the disease at the beginning of the Corona pandemic, which made their condition worse and resisted the disease and its conditions by working and went to work with masks, describing their start as the project, explaining: “We started from people’s needs for masks and we allocated a part of them distributed free of charge, and at the beginning we had great support from the family and neighbors who took the initiative to buy from me, The first of them was my husband who used to sell even to his friends, and after that the hospital asked us to produce for them , and we achieved great success and profit.
And she says: “Support in all the beginnings is a major psychological and practical shift, the feeling that you are not alone and everyone is beside you a feeling that forces you to continue and produce with greater energy and greater determination.”
